Mommy, I don’t feel good…

Last Thursday I received the first call of the year from Jake’s school nurse informing me that he did not feel good.  WHAT?!?!?!  Not already!!!  Man, oh man!!

It was to my ENORMOUS relief that Jake suffered from swimmer’s ear and not the dreaded…VIRUS!

Not that I was ecstatic that Jake had ANY ailment, but at least medicated drops would heal him right up and we didn’t have to endure the days that it takes to feel better from a virus when no antibiotics are prescribed.  Woohoo!  Bring on the medication!

Unfortunately, that one phone call disrupted my day and subsequently disturbed my peace of mind.  With the turn of events, I was forced to cancel appointments, rearrange schedules and play the rest of the week by ear (pun intended).  The worst part was that my sweet boy didn’t feel good.  Boo.

The flip side was that I gained a ‘snuggle day’ with a precious seven-year-old who wanted his mama and loves to cuddle.  I was definitely blessed in spite of a day gone wrong.

Saying, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.”  Luke 22:42 Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.  Romans 12:12

Obviously, surrender and patience were the lessons of that day.  And I’m SO not very good at giving up control or changing plans.

Surviving the simplest of hardships is difficult and sometimes we perpetuate the situation by refusing to forego our plans and submit to the One who is in charge of this thing called life.

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7

Life, most certainly, does not always go our way.  However, with a positive attitude, a submissive spirit and the hope that only comes from Jesus Christ – we can make every day a joy to behold!

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. Romans 15:13

I hope that you will enjoy today regardless of what the day may bring!

Some Wisdom for Today:  Proverbs 15:3 – The eyes of the Lord are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good.
