The RA-RA Session

Everyone needs a cheerleader.  Some days more than others!

Tuesday was my day to hang with one of my besties by the pool and review the events that have been transpiring this summer so far.

As I divulged the good, bad and ugly, she listened, encouraged, and beat me over the head with a big stick….because I needed it.

She’s one of those people I can be ‘real’ with.  I don’t hold back and I am about as transparent to her as a freshly clean window, which in my house is unheard of!!! Pitiful.

Over the past few years we have volleyed the cheerleader role and the swinging of the BIG STICK as needed and on Tuesday it is was her turn.  Sigh.

Thank you, God, for good friends!

Oil and perfume make the heart glad, and the sweetness of a friend comes from his earnest counsel. Proverbs 27:9

Often we go through life keeping our thoughts private and our pain hidden and where does it get us? Nowhere fast.

As humans, we are meant to be in relationship with others and to help each other through the good AND bad times. We need one another and once in a while, we require what I like to call a RA-RA session.

Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. Ecclesiastes 4:9

This RA-RA session is where we air our complaints to a dear friend (not just anyone) and they give us a tail-whopping to get us back on track.

However, the most important part of this exercise is that the cheerleader lists the many talents, passions, gifts and good qualities about US.

Don’t know about you, but I frequently forget that I’m an amazing creation made by an awesome God.

For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. Psalm 139:13-14

There is no shame in needing encouragement or assistance as we travel the road of life.

This is our life.  We have to use our time wisely and recognize that we are valuable because we are GOD’s!!!

Each and every one of us are worth SO much to God that His Son, Jesus Christ, died for US!!!  You don’t get any more loved than that!!!

So, as you go through your day, seek out a dear friend if you need reassurance.  Or better yet, seek out someone who NEEDS ENCOURAGEMENT FROM YOU.

Some Wisdom for Today:  Proverbs 30:5 – Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.
