Watching the Chicago Bears football team week in and week out can get pretty depressing since they continue to lose on a regular basis. UGH!!!
I think there’s a lesson here, but I sure wish they would hurry up and learn it!!!
Clearly, the Bears are not doing so hot, but I’m still wearing their t-shirt. It just happens to say, “Cutler Makes Me Drink”….sigh. I’m loyal, but truthful.
I might be disappointed and delusional, but I’m gonna keep smiling through this season no matter what!!!
Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me. Philippians 4:11-13
This past Sunday was a really big eye-opener for me as the ESPN Sunday morning crew was discussing the amount of talent on the Bears team, but the lack of good leadership. Some said it was the quarterback’s fault, other’s said it was the coach’s fault, but a few said it was a team problem.
However, the consensus from ALL of the commentators was that (1) gobs of money doesn’t guarantee a good performance and (2) great talent doesn’t mean you’ll win. WOW…I need to write those down!
Working through our failures and continuing to get back up when we are sacked is the key to a successful life…pun intended.
Don’t get me wrong; it’s no fun to push forward when people are talking smack about you, it’s hard to stand back up after a tough tumble, and it’s nearly impossible to forge through the fear that tries to hold us back.
The Lord upholds all who are falling and raises up all who are bowed down. Psalm 145:14
The reality is that we all live in constant failure to live up to Christ’s standard, but that makes it no less important to keep trying to reach His benchmark.
Remembering that we are flawed beings is critical to our growth and using our failures to encourage others is absolutely necessary to lead others to know and love Christ.
Jesus showed us by example how to live in perfection. Our example can be triumph through failure.
“Failure should be our teacher, not our undertaker. Failure is delay, not defeat. It is a temporary detour, not a dead end. Failure is something we can avoid only by saying nothing, doing nothing, and being nothing.” – Denis Waitley
“There is no failure except in no longer trying.” – Chris Bradford
“I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” – Thomas A. Edison
“Failures are finger posts on the road to achievement.” – C.S. Lewis
“It’s not how far you fall, but how high you bounce that counts.” – Zig Ziglar
“You build on failure. You use it as a stepping stone. Close the door on the past. You don’t try to forget the mistakes, but you don’t dwell on it. You don’t let it have any of your energy, or any of your time, or any of your space.” – Johnny Cash
What failures or fear of failures do you need to be pushing through today?
Some Wisdom for Today: Proverbs 28:13 – Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.
